The morning temperature was - 45 degrees Fairenheit. Yes, I said minus 45 degrees! As this is the mating season for wild wolves, there were a few lone males seeking the attention of some of the young druid females this season. This picture was taken just after an individual gray wolf, not associated with the Druid Peak Pack, was approaching some of the pack members as they fed on a bull elk. The beta male (#302) did not appreciate the attention that the lone gray was giving and proceeded to chase him off. The rest of the pack followed suit, but this morning we did observe two black females leave with the lone gray wolf. I am not sure if they made the break from their pack, or eventually returned to their own. |
