Image Title: Elk Calf 2 Photographer's Notes:
everyday in Yellowstone during early June. Elk calves recently born are hidden, lying stationary in sagebrush and grassy areas... maybe even next to lichen-covered boulders. I do not remember this calf moving a muscle. We had no intentions on getting so close, but we nearly walked on top of this young elk! I am glad that at least this day, this young one survived an encounter with one of its many known predators... This image is currently available in multiple sizes.
