Bachelor herds are not uncommon before the rut (mating season) which takes place during the month of November. This group of 10 rams are just a few of the 14 rams that were edging Yellowstone's northern park boundary. I have yet to figure out why they graze the landscape in such fashion... Lining up shoulder to shoulder working their way along. Is it self defense? Is the group competing for best forage, by watching the lead ram graze? I'm not sure... This image is currently available in multiple sizes, but has been cropped in a way that does not fit factory cut mats and frames.
